Marisol is based in Glendowie, Auckland. She discovered her passion for pottery when she arrived in New Zealand with her family. "The first time I touched clay, I was immediately fascinated by the material and how you can create a unique form from just clay and water."

She began her pottery journey at Studio Potters and furthered her training in ceramics at The Clay Centre.
Simultaneously, she dedicated over a year to receiving specialized instruction in Japanese pottery at Yamada Pottery. Each piece is wheel-thrown and fired at a high temperature. "During throwing, I focus my attention on each piece to achieve harmony between lightness, shape, and touch." She designs pieces for everyday use to bring a sense of calm and beauty to daily life.

Marisol has applied her artistic sensibilities to the culinary world, working on projects for designers, restaurants, cafes and boutique hotel. This experience has enriched her understanding of functional design, further informing the practical elegance of her pottery work. Her studio space is conveniently located at The Clay Centre in Ellerslie.

Marisol's pottery work is a beautiful fusion of her Peruvian heritage, her experiences living in Switzerland for over 20 years, her love of Japanese ceramics, and her deep appreciation for the natural beauty of Aotearoa.

"Thank you for your interest in my work."
